The University of Luxembourg invites applications for its Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education (FLSHASE)

Duration: 14 months fixed-term contract, extendable to 36 months, full-time (40h/week)

Study Area: Social psychology/Media psychology

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Prepare a cumulative doctoral thesis in the interdisciplinary field of social psychology and media psychology based on quantitative data obtained from empirical research on media use and media effects
• Design experimental tests and surveys (on-/offline) on the interaction of personality factors (e.g., self-awareness, moral self-regulation) and features of interactive media
• Contribute to publications and research reports
• Participate actively in national and international conferences
• Contribute to teaching in study programmes of psychology, one to three hours per week

Requirements:

• Applicant must hold excellent master’s degree or equivalent in psychology or communication science
• Applicant must have excellent and strong interest in quantitative research methods; excellent knowledge of statistical software for quantitative analyses (e.g., SPSS, R)
• Applicant must have strong practical experience in designing and conducting experimental studies
• Applicant must demonstrate experiences in maintaining a media laboratory (PCs, testing equipment) is considered an asset
• Applicant must possess excellent command of English (written and spoken). German or French is considered an asset
