The Department of Criminal Law and Criminology, Faculty of Law at KU Leuven is inviting applications for Full-Time Practice Assistant Youth Criminology and Youth Law.
About the Position:
- The selected candidate will part of the Youth Criminology and Youth Law Research Line within the Leuven Institute of Criminology, and he/she will contribute to the research in this line of research.
- This consists of taking concrete research assignments and conceiving and writing scientific and vulgarising articles in the context of current research, in particular the Youth Research Platform
- Exploring doctoral research is also possible.
- The selected candidate will offer support and assistance with education in the Criminology course, in particular with the courses ‘Youth criminology and juvenile law’, ‘Juvenile justice and youth criminology’, and especially Criminological practice ‘Youth and Prevention’ (supervision of internships in the context of this course).
Requirements:
- Candidate must hold Master’s degree (or final year student) in Criminological Sciences (possibly social, pedagogical or psychological sciences), with good study results
- Candidates must be fascinated by themes from juvenile criminology and youth law, but also by the social debate and the practical and policy dimensions thereof
- Candidate must have a good knowledge of the methodology of social science research, and active control of programs for the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, such as SPSS and Nvivo;
- Candidate must have a good knowledge of Dutch, English and French;
- Candidate must be able to work and collaborate independently and are stress resistant;
