The School of Computer Science at University of Nottingham in partnership with Cyber Dyne invites applications for a fully-funded PhD studentship. Cyber Dyne is a software company focused on Intelligent Optimisation and Prescriptive AI. Its main product is KIMEME, an advanced multidisciplinary optimisation platform based on state-of-the-art bio-inspired metaheuristics and Machine Learning techniques.
About the position:
- The topic of the studentship is “Problem Analysis based Algorithmic Design for Industry 4.0”.
- This exciting project is expected to lay the theoretical foundation and provide practical solutions for a novel technology aimed at addressing large-scale industrial optimisation problems, with reference to the case study of a leading international company in the automotive sector.
- The developed algorithms and software prototype will be tested on real-world cases and later integrated in KIMEME.
- For this studentship, a strong command of Object-Oriented programming in Java and Python and a solid background in mathematics are required.
- Previous experience in machine learning and agile software development is a plus.
Duration: minimum three years
Remuneration: stipend of (minimum) £14,777 per year and tuition fees.
Requirements:
- Position is available to students of UK and EU nationality.
- Applicants are normally expected to have a first-class Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, and must obtain the support of a potential supervisor in the School prior to submitting their application.
