Fully funded Ph.D position in cranio /orofacial development Germany 1899 views

For our new research group at the University Hospital Leipzig, we are looking for a PhD candidate with an interest in cranio- and orofacial development.

Research Theme

  1. Our research focuses on deciphering the causes of cranio- and orofacial syndromes, as well as examining the early stages of skull formation.
  2. To understand the molecular and cellular processes in the early stages of embryonic head formation, we employ a set of cutting-edge methods such as single cell sequencing, advanced bioinformatics analyses, novel in situ hybridization methods, transgenic mouse models, computed tomography and 3D imaging.
  3. Our work further involves standard molecular and developmental biology methods: immunohistochemistry, histology, in vitro cell and tissue cultivation, genetic tracing and tissue-specific gene modifications.
  4. The successful candidate will drive the investigation of molecular signalling and cellular processes driving the palate development with the ultimate aim to better understand the basis of cleft palate formation.
