Grants-in-aid – MNDRIA Australia invites researchers working in Australia in fields that are relevant to motor neuron disease (MND) for funding to support research commencing in the calendar year 2018.

GRANTS-IN-AID FOR RESEARCH INTO MND:

Application proposals should be written so that:

  • aims of the research are clear to the MND Australia Research Committee
  • aims are related to the development of an understanding of the causes, treatments or cures of MND
  • Causes, treatments and cures will be inferred broadly and may include proposals studying palliative care and the epidemiology of the disease
  • The propositions on which the research is based are explained in terms of the current theories about the causes, treatments or cures of MND
  • The people who will be doing the research are identified:

By their role in the research, and by short (not longer than two A4 pages) but adequate CV for each person (including the principal investigator).

  • Selected publications with CV (restricted to the last five years).
  • The proposal is brief (max.4 pages) and to the point
  • Reference list should not be longer than two pages
  • Satisfactory justification must be provided for the requested funding (not more than 1 page).

Note:

  • Funds must be used to cover direct costs of the project and not to be used for indirect or overhead costs.
  • If part of the funding is requested to support travel to the International Symposium on ALS/MND, this must not exceed $4,000.
  • Other proposed sources of funding to support the project are disclosed
