The position of postdoctoral fellow in Human-computer Interaction is open at the UBC, Canada. The laboratory is looking for candidates who have a strong backgrounds and interests in multimodal interactions, interactive systems, interface design, and/or social computing.

The selected post-doc fellow should have expertise in methods of human-centered design and/or qualitative/quantitative evaluation as well as a successful track record of publications on one of the given topics:

  1. Video interfaces for online learning
  2. Voice assistant design
  3. Collaboration in VR/AR
  4. Collaborative annotation
  5. User Interfaces for Crowdsourcing

Overview

The candidate will join a research team led by Dongwook Yoon. The research program focuses on building and evaluating collaboration systems that offer rich multimedia user experiences and/or expressive multimodal interactions.

Responsibilities: The candidate will be expected to play leading role in shaping and executing research projects and will work with and provide mentorship to undergraduates, Masters, and PhD students.

Fellowship Benefits: Fully-funded one-year contract, renewable based on performance. Salary will be $70,000 – $80,000 CAD per year, depending on qualifications, plus benefits and research allowance.

REquired QUALIFICATIONS

  1. PhD in Human-Computer Interaction or any other related fields
  2. A good track record of publications in top-tier HCI venues, such as ACM CHI, UIST, or CSCW
  3. Friendly and professional conduct
  4. Fluency in written and spoken English
