IMPRS-CS PhD Program: This program leads to a doctoral degree (PhD) and is open to students who already hold a research oriented Master’s degree in Computer Science (or an equivalent degree). Admitted students will receive a support contract that covers all living expenses and tuition fees. These support contract recipients are automatically members of the Saarbrücken Graduate School of Computer Science at Saarland University.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Applicant must hold or be about to receive a Master’s degree in Computer Science (or an equivalent degree) from a research-oriented institution of higher education.
• Applicant must have outstanding academic performance (rank at or near top of class).
• Applicant must have excellent oral and written English language skills.
• Applicant must demonstrate aptitude for independent and creative work.
• Applicant must have performed research and published (or submitted for publication) the results

Application must be supported by:

• Bachelor’s and Master’s certificate (if available)

• grade transcripts from Bachelor and Master study

• names and email addresses of professors or similar willing to give reference for the candidate (3)
• motivation letter indicating reasons for pursuing a PhD in computer science at the International Max Planck Research School for Computer Science and applicant may state his/her preferred supervisor or research group
• submission of TOEFL scores, TSE scores or the Cambridge Certificate is strongly encouraged but not mandatory
• submission of GRE general and GRE Computer Science subject test scores is strongly encouraged but not obligatory
• abstract of Master’s thesis
• note: TOEFL-code for Saarland University is 8399 and there is no application fee.
