JAMSTEC: Postdoc position; Geobiological Analysis and Research (D-SUGAR) 935 views

Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position to work at the Department of Subsurface Geobiological Analysis and Research (D-SUGAR). The position is available to work in Research Subgroup A01 Water–Rock Reactions in Solar System Bodies (FY2017-2021 under the Principal Investigator: Takazo Shibuya. This positions is funded by a Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas: Aqua Planetology, supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).

Duration: April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020

Requirements:

  • Applicants must hold or expected to obtain a PhD in a related field by the date of employment (no more than 5 years can have passed between the last day of the fiscal year in which the applicants obtained a Ph.D. and the date of employment)
  • Applicant must be able to communicate in either Japanese or English, ideally with experience in experiments and thermodynamic modeling of high-temperature and -pressure water–rock reactions.
  • Applicant can be of any nationality and either gender.

  • Publication (achievement) list including thesis titles (1 copy).
  • A list of competitive research funds awarded to the applicant (1 copy).
  • 2 (or fewer) representative publications (1 copy).
  • A letter of recommendation from a senior research scientist.
