Paris-Saclay University and the Institute for Advanced Studies in Paris are inviting applications for two international researchers or high-level researchers in the Humanities and Social Sciences (SHS). One of positions is available during the academic year 2018-2019 and the other position during the year 2019-2020.

Duration: 6 months

Starting dates: either the 1st September 2020 or either between the 1st January 2021

Eligibility

  • Applications are open to researchers of all nationalities.
  • Candidates who have stayed in France for a total of more than 12 months in the three years preceding this call are not eligible (for example as lecturers, fellows or contract employees in a French teaching or research institution ).
  • The call is open to university professors and senior “senior” researchers in the humanities and social sciences and associated disciplines holding a university or research position or emeritus (minimum 10 years’ experience in post-doctoral research at the date of application). To be considered senior, the successful candidate must have obtained his doctorate before 1st September 2008.
  • Junior researchers with a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 9 years’ experience in post-doctoral research (at the date of application). To be eligible and considered junior, the successful candidate must have obtained his doctorate from 1st September 2016 and 1st September 2008.
  • Applicant must possess knowledge of English and comprehension of French.

Application:

  • Application (in English or French) to be submitted exclusively via the online application system and online file consists of the following parts:
  • completed application form;
  • CV including a global list of publications and a list of the 5 publications considered to be the most important (10 pages max.);
  • Research project (max 25 000 characters) and must include: the theme, the state of research on this topic, the originality of the project, methodology and / or theoretical foundations, expected benefits, the work program, scientific collaborations and contacts existing or planned in France, the bibliography (works and articles cited).
  • 2 summaries of the research project (1500 characters maximum each, including spaces): one for specialists in the field, the other for non-specialists;
  • a letter attesting to the cooperation of the researcher with one or more laboratory (s) of the Paris-Saclay University, signed by a member of the laboratory (s). The document should specify the nature of the collaboration envisaged;
  • a list of 4 topics (related or not to the presented project) on which the researcher can give a lecture during his stay, at the IEA or in one of his partner institutions;
  • for juniors (2 to 9 years after the PhD at the application deadline): two letters of recommendation.
