John Allwright Fellowship is a scholarship presented by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and co-funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. These fellowships are offered to partner-country scholars concerned in ACIAR supported joint research projects to commence postgraduate training at Australian universities.
The key aim of the fellowship is to improve research capacity in ACIAR’s collaborator institutions. The individuals will benefit from the proposal, it is important that the associated country institutions are the key targets. The study and research opportunities provided by Australia Awards widen skills and acquaintance of individuals to drive change and contribute to the growth outcomes of their own country.

Scholarship conditions:
- Applicant who accepts John Allwright Fellowship will be required to sign a contract with the Commonwealth of Australia.
- Successful applicant will have to leave Australia for a min. of two years after finishing the scholarship. If fail to do so, candidate will invite a debt for the total accrued cost.
- Applicants must be legal citizens of their country of residence in which they are working.
Eligibility:
- Candidate should hold Bachelor’s degree in discipline which is relevant to the planned area of postgraduate study.
- You can be a scientist/economist from the developing country partner, who is enthusiastically involved in a collaborative study project supported by ACIAR
- You should be jointly supported by the Australian and associated country Project supervisors.
- Approval from the employing organization.
Note: The Fellowship Scheme, ACIAR are compelled to meet the Australian government policy on gender equity, and reflect ACIAR’s training policies and strategies.
How to apply:
- One call for applicants per year.
- Submit your applications online by 31st July one year prior when you intend to start your study.
- Note: ACIAR’s prefers online applications.
- Award is valid only for one year according to the Australian academic year.
- Eligibility of candidates should be checked before application.
