The Lady Tata Memorial Trust offers awards for research work done in India for any scientific investigation having a bearing, directly or indirectly, on the improvement of human suffering from diseases.

The Trust offers the following awards in India:

Post-Doctoral Fellowship*

Duration: initially for a period of 01 year commencing from August each year; renewable for a further one year based on the first year progress report; will not be extended beyond 2 years.

Requirements: Ph.D. in Science or an M.D./M.S./M.D.S. degree with 2 years’ research experience and must strictly have Ist class academics (60% and above) from Class X up to date.

Fellowship value: Rs.36,000/- per month with HRA & annual contingency

Junior Scholarship

Duration: initially for a period of 2 years commencing from August each year

Requirements: Postgraduate qualification in Science (M.Sc.) and must strictly have first class academics (60% and above) from Class X up to date. Applicants with GATE / NET qualifications will be preferred.

Fellowship value: Rs.25,000/- per month with HRA & annual contingency.

Young Researcher Award

  • This Scheme is dedicated to recognize and reward young Indian scientists, below the age of 40 years, with brilliant track record in biological sciences, a deep commitment to find innovative solutions to major problems related to human diseases and potential for high quality research.
  • Applicants must have a regular position in a University / Organization / Institute in India and must be engaged in research and development and have publications arising from research done as an independent investigator in India.

Award value: Rs.25,000/- p.m. with a contingency grant of Rs.5 lakhs/year, in addition to the regular salary drawn from the host Institute.

Institutional Research Project Grant

  • Applications are invited from recognized Indian Institutions, research laboratories and leading scientific / medical centers doing scientific research work in the diseases of the blood, with special emphasis on leukaemia research, and for research in alleviation of human suffering from diseases.
