LEARN Postdoctoral Fellowship 1535 views

New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre is offering the LEARN Postdoctoral Fellowship. The fellowship provides funds for an emerging scientist from a developing country to complete a research project in New Zealand in an area aligned with livestock greenhouse gas mitigation.

Requirements:
  • The Fellowship must be spent in New Zealand.
  • Duration: minimum 12 months and a maximum 2 years
  • The fellowship must be started within one year of the award being granted.
  • The Fellowship does NOT support conference visits.
  • All applications must be developed in association with a New Zealand research institution.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must hold PhD which is obtained in the last 5 years.
  • Applicant must be a high achieving researcher (supported by academic transcripts, letters of recommendation and publishing record).
  • Applicant must be employed in an area of research aligned with livestock greenhouse gas mitigation in your home country.
  • Applicant must have the support of the employer (with whom applicant is working) to apply for the Fellowship.
  • Applicant must have a guide in a New Zealand research organisation (host).
  • Applicant must be resident in a developing country as defined by the OECD list of Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) recipients.
  • Applicant must satisfy New Zealand Government requirements for international entry into New Zealand.
  • Applicant must be able to speak and understand English to a level sufficient to function in a research role.

Funding:

  • Up to NZD$50,000/year for maximum 2 years
  • Funding covers living expenses while in New Zealand (pro rata to be calculated on time spent in New Zealand).
  • Travel/ medical insurance: Up to NZD$5,000 (return economy class airfares)
  • Research costs: Up to NZD$5,000

How to apply:

There is a two-stage application process:

  1. Submit an Expression Of Interest (EOI) to determine eligibility. An EOI for a Postdoctoral Fellowship can be submitted at any time during the year, however full applications must be submitted by 30 June (New Zealand time).
  2. Full application process: The Postdoctoral Fellowships are assessed annually each July.
