Mandel Postdoctoral Fellowships: Humanities and Jewish Studies 1269 views

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem invites applications for the Mandel Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Humanities and Jewish Studies for 2019–2022. The Fellowships are open to scholars, from Israel and abroad, who have shown exceptional excellence, depth, and originality, and whose research may enrich academic and cultural discourse.

Requirements:
  • Applications are open to candidates who completed their PhD degrees no earlier than October 1, 2014.
  • Applicants who have not yet completed their degrees may apply if they have submitted their dissertations by September 2, 2018.
  • Selected Mandel Scholars are expected to engage in research in optimal conditions and teach one annual course (2 hours per week) (teaching in English is possible).

Fellowship value: 150,000 NIS per year along with research budget

Duration: 3 years

Application Procedure:

  • Applications must be submitted through the Humanities section of Hebrew University’s Scholarship System. Applicants must submit the foolowing:
  • Online application form
  • CV (up to 2 pages)
  • List of publications
  • Statement of purpose (up to 2 pages): academic research goals and intentions for the next couple of years; explain, inter alia, the relationship of project to the applicant’s doctoral work and whether it is feasible to pursue it in Jerusalem.
  • Academic writing (upload an academic publication or writing sample- up to 30 pages)
  • Dissertation abstract (up to 2 pages)
  • 2 letters of recommendation
