Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowships (KoWi)

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowships -European Fellowship by German Research Organizations (KoWi), Germany

Overview

Researchers can apply for an Individual Fellowship (IF) if they have either a PhD or at least four (04) years of full-time research experience after their graduation.

The choice of topic is open to all fields of research. The project has to be conducted together with a host institution that is either located in an EU Member State (MS) or Associated Country (AS).

Application Details

The application must be made jointly with a host institution and a scientific supervisor and has fixed call deadlines. The host institution may be chosen freely (universities, research organizations, universities of applied science, international organizations, enterprises, etc.). The host institution may not, however, be located in the country of residence of the applicant (mobility rule).

Fellows will play an active role in shaping their own training program and professional development. A Career Development Plan will have to be established together with the supervisor, which includes training needs and research objectives.

Qualifications / ELIGIBILITY

Requirements

  1. Applicants may not have lived or worked in the country of their future host institution for more than 12 months during the past 3 years;
  2. Free choice of research topic by researcher and host institution with a view to the researcher’s career development: from basic research to market uptake and innovation services;
  3. Employment at the host institution for the duration of the project.

Fellowship BENEFITS

Fellowship for experienced researchers (PhD or at least 4 years of full-time research experience) for 12 – 24 months: living allowance, contribution to research and travel costs, management and overheads.
Optional: secondment to the non-academic sector (MS/AC) for maximum 6 months.

Researchers who receive an Individual Fellowship have the possibility to include a secondment phase in the non-academic or academic sector within the overall duration of their fellowship. It is possible to do secondments within the same country or into another European country (MS or AS).
