The Vienna Graduate School in Computational Optimization (VGSCO) open postdoctoral position in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or a related field with excellent results or close to it.
She/ he will complement research areas pursued at VGSCO and will conduct original research independently. She/ he will participate in the Graduate School’s teaching, research and administrative activities and contribute to linking the Graduate School with the national and international scientific community, cooperating with other academic departments/institutions and supporting PhD students.
She/ he administrates the series of guest lectures and workshops and actively participates in the selection process of Visiting Professors. Experience in teaching and administration at university is of advantage. Employment (fourty hrs/week) is based on a three year contract.
The VGSCO is a joint initiative between the University of Vienna, the TU Wien and the Austrian Institute of Science and Technology (IST) funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).
The successful candidate has an excellent background in Computational Optimization and should demonstrate a strong interest in research in that field. She/ he has a record of innovative research papers that aim to be published in top general interest and field journals.
She/ he is able to comprehend complex issues and communicate them in a structured way. She/ he likes to work in an international team and is interested also transporting research standards to PhD students and introducing them into the scientific network.
