Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry: fully-funded PhD position 2409 views

Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry and the Mechanisms of Protein Biogenesis Laboratory are seeking a PhD student in Translational Control of Protein Folding.

About the position:
  • Appointed candidate will be an enthusiastic early-career scientist to work on dissecting how the cellular machineries for protein synthesis and folding synergize in distinct environments, and how this synergy is perturbed in disease.
  • Candidate must be passionate about solving fundamental problems in biology that enjoys working in a dynamic international environment.
  • The project will combine genome-wide approaches, genetics, and biochemistry to dissect how events during mRNA translation guide protein structure acquisition in metazoans.

Duration: 3 years (extendable to four)

Value: fully funded

Requirements:

  • Applicant must hold a Master’s degree or a similar qualification in a field of life sciences.
  • Previous experience with mammalian stem cells or high-throughput sequencing and knowledge of computational biology is advantageous (but not required).
