Microbiology and Immunology (MIM) PhD Program

This PhD program in Microbiology and Immunology (MIM) is to engage and provide training to future leaders in different fields of Microbiology and Immunology. The program provides a unique and integrative environment for internationally competitive research. The program calls students from field of the natural sciences.

Application Procedure:
  • Applicant must be Master’s degree holder or an equivalent degree at the start of the PhD program.
  • There are two ways for applying to the MIM:
Track 1: Application to the Program
  • The admission team decides on the list of applicants to be called for the interviews.
  • Three days interviews will be held in September and February.
  • The applicants should choose up to eight research groups they are interested in and would like to visit during the interview round.
  • During the three day visit of the students, applicants will meet and discuss with group leaders who have advertised a PhD position.
Track 2: Application to a Principal Investigator (PI)
  • An applicant can apply directly to a research group and can be accepted by the PI.
  • Track II students should submit their application with two letters of recommendation (from two independent reviewers).
  • The application has to have a recommendation letter of the PI explaining why the student qualifies for the Program. Applications can be submitted at any time of the year.
  • Applicants who did not pass a Track I interview are not allowed to enter the MIM program through Track II. Application as Track II is possible for candidates who applied by Track I but were not invited for the interview.
