Max Planck Institute (MPI) for Dynamics and Self-Organization invite applications for a PhD position in Complex Systems. The position is available at the Laboratory for Fluid Dynamics, Pattern Formation and Biocomplexity led by Prof. Eberhard Bodenschatz. The PhD position is within the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Innovative Training Networks, starting at the end of May 2017 or earlier.
Eligibility:
- Applicant must hold Master’s or comparable degree in Physics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related fields.
- Applicant must have strong experimental background; quantitative skills (data analysis, image processing, programming); eagerness to learn new skills and apply established ones; ability and desire to work in a multi-disciplinary international team,
- Applicant must possess good command of English language (German is an asset) and good writing skills.
- Applicant must demonstrate interest in fluid dynamics, turbulence, experimental physics, and programming.
The offer:
- A structured PhD program is offered in the graduate program of the Physics Department in close collaboration with the Georg August University.
- Duration: limited to 3 years
- Salary and working hours: in accordance with the funding guidelines of the European Research Council and include a mobility allowance and family allowance.
