Pearsall Fellowship: Naval and Maritime History 1374 views

Institute of Historical Research (IHR), University of London invites applications for the Pearsall Fellowship. The fellowship is a one year postdoctoral Fellowship in Naval and Maritime History. Applications are welcome for work on any aspect of Naval and Maritime History, in the broadest sense, anywhere in the world, from the fall of the Roman Empire in the West up to the present day.

Pearsall Fellowship Research Area:

  • Naval and Maritime History in any period from the fall of the Roman Empire in the West until the 21st century.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants can be of any nationality
  • Applicant must hold PhD (or equivalent) that has been awarded in any country.
  • Applicants must already have submitted their PhD thesis for examination, or be prepared to do so by 1 October of the academic year in which the award is to be held.
  • Applicants who already hold PhD must have been awarded them in the 5 years prior to October 2015.
  • This Fellowship is for the recent doctoral graduates. Those who have previously held another postdoctoral research Fellowship will not be eligible.
  • The Fellowship cannot be held in conjunction with any other substantial maintenance grant.

Fellowship value: £23,000

Application:

  • Apply using the IHR’s online application system will be considered. Applications must include:
  • CV (1 page)
  • Thesis summary, written work, and research proposal.
  • 2 supporting letters of reference must be received by no later than 13 April 2017.
  • Interviews will be held in May/June 2017
