The Faculty of Health Sciences, Nursing and Health Promotion at OsloMet-Oslo Metropolitan University (former HiOA) are inviting applications for PhD Fellowship positions in Genetics/Genomics.

About the position:
  • The positions will be affiliated to a research group comprising geneticists, bioinformaticians and virologists from OsloMet, the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, the Norwegian Veterinary Institute, Nofima and the University of Oslo.
  • The research group also cooperates closely with genetics groups in Scotland and Canada, and is at the forefront of research in its field.
  • The research fellows may have the opportunity for short stays (up to two months) at partner institutions in Scotland and/or Canada. The project manager is Rune Andreassen, OsloMet .

Research area: Genomics on Atlantic salmon and epigenetic regulation by miRNAs

Qualifications:

  • Applicant must hold master’s degree (120 credits/ECTS) or equivalent education taken in the past 10 years.
  • Applicant must possess good English skills (written and oral)
  • Applicant must hold general competence in the field of genetics/genomics
  • Applicant must have experience of experimental work with RNA (RNA extraction/RT-qPCR) and experience with expression analyses of deep sequencing data (bioinformatics) or of work with cell-based methods for examining gene expression.
