The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion invites applications for a PhD position in process engineering, chemical- or bio-engineering. The position is available in Multiphasic Catalysis group in the department of “Molecular Catalysis”. The position is funded within the EU project Redifuel an international collaborative network for the synthesis of renewable fuels from waste.

The successful candidate will work in the field of process engineering and will be entrusted to construct a miniplant for a homogenous catalysed reaction and will be supervised by Prof. Dr. Walter Leitner and PD Dr. Andreas J. Vorholt.

Starting date: earliest October 2018

Duration: 3-year

About the position:

  • The work will be in close collaboration with a chemist, who is in charge for the development of the catalysis for high conversion and recycling.
  • The task is to develop a flexible and stable continuous operated laboratory scale plant, to operate and test the developed chemistry and optimize it on a plant level.
  • The miniplant will be fully automated. This work is embedded in further work of the collaboration partners and the implementation of the miniplant in other steps is envisaged.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must hold a Master’s or equivalent degree in process engineering, chemical or bio engineering at the point of enrolment, preferentially with some experience in miniplant development or unit operations as well as basic chemistry knowledge.

Applications:

  • Application to be sent in digital form to PD Dr. Andreas J. Vorholt at Andreas-j.vorholt@cec.mpg.de quoting the reference code “AV001”.
