PhD / Doctoral Candidate in Quantum Nanomechanics at the Aalto University.

The Quantum Nanomechanics group at the Department of Applied Physics, Aalto University, Finland, is looking for an outstanding DOCTORAL CANDIDATE.

The position is to initially work on electromechanical quantum systems under the EU Horizon 2020 FET Proactive project Hybrid Optomechanical Technologies (HOT), and later on closely related projects funded by the Finnish Academy.

Project Overview:

  1. The work will focus on the quantum technology aspect,
  2. Goals of using and generating squeezed and entangled states of mechanical oscillators, cavities, and propagating EM fields at cryogenic temperatures.
  3. Besides the future quantum technology, studies will shed light on the quantum behavior of nearly macroscopic objects.

Requirements

  1. Masters in relevant discipline
  2. Candidates to have experience either in cryogenic measurements, or clean room techniques and e-beam lithography.

Fellowship / Benefits

  1. Starting salary is around 2500 €/month
  2. The position is initially filled for 2 years
