The Max Planck Institute of Biophysical Chemistry invites applications for a PhD student in the field of molecular mechanisms of signal complex dynamics. The position is available in research Group “Biochemistry of Signal Dynamics” (Alex C. Faesen).
About the research:
- The selected highly motivated candidate will work on reconstituting the assembly dynamics of key signaling protein complexes involved in cell division, DNA damage signalling and autophagy.
- The main aim is to unveil the molecular mechanisms that drive the controlled assembly and disassembly of these signaling protein complexes in the cell, so to be able eventually to manipulate them meaningfully.
Requirements:
- Applicant must hold a Master’s (or equivalent) degree in Life Science and a strong interest and motivation to biochemically reconstitute molecular machines and should appreciate detailed problem solving.
- A background in molecular biology is essential and experience with protein biochemistry would be an advantage.
Application:
- Application to be sent to ausschreibung15-18@mpibpc.mpg.de including the following:
- Cover letter (explaining background and motivation)
- CV
- List of publications (if applicable)
- Contact names and addresses of two to four references familiar with the work of the applicant preferably in electronic form (as one single PDF file).
