PhD Position in Nanotechnology at Uppsala University: The Department of Chemistry – Ångström laboratory, Uppsala University invited application for filling up the position of Research assistant in Polymer chemistry to develop one or more classes of injectable hydrogels using ECM based polysaccharides viz. collagen.
About the Project: Selected candidates will functionalize polysaccharides like gelatin using orthogonal functionalities on the mycosporines, will characterize the physical, chemical and biological properties acquired by the crosslinking of such polysaccharides and ascertain the mechanical properties as well as the photo-stability of such hydrogels using NMR, AT-FTIR, UV and rheology. Candidates should have knowledge and expertise in cell culture for evaluation of the hydrogels for various levels of photo-stability and protection from UV-A and UV-B light.

Educational qualifications: Interested and eligible candidates must have Master degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomaterials, Nanotechnology or in another related area with experience and good knowledge on chemical modification of collagen and hyaluronic acid, characterization of hydrogel physical properties, hydrogel preparation using biorthogonal crosslinking reaction, mechanical characterization of hydrogels and cell culture.
