Lund University, Faculty of Science, Department of Physics invites application for a PhD position in Nanostructure Dynamics at the atomic scale.
About the positions:
- Within this project, the PhD candidate will use and develop scanning probe microscopy – including both scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM).
- Selected candidate will investigate nanostructure surface and interface dynamics from microns to the atomic scale and from seconds to attoseconds.
- Successful candidate is expected to use existing equipment and develop novel approaches to explore nanostructure surface and device dynamics to the atomic scale, even under operational conditions or during surface modification.
- Participation in several PhD schools (e.g. on nanoscience or advanced microscopy) is offered.
Requirements:
- Applicant must hold Master’s degree in physics, nanoscience or equivalent, or substantial advanced course work at the Master level, or comparable, including an independent research project.
- Applicant must possess good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
- Applicant must have some experience with high resolution STM or surface studies of semiconductors; experience in working at synchrotron radiation facilities, femtosecond lasers and in clean-room environments is of additional benefit.
Duration: 4 years (full time)
Applications:
- Apply online
- Applications must include the following:
- Covering letter describing the particular research interests
- CV
- Copy of the applicant’s Master’s thesis (or a summary text if the thesis is not yet completed)
- At least 2 references with contact details
- Copies of grade certificates
