PhD and Postdoc Research Fellows: Social Sciences and Humanities 1793 views

Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity invites applications for up to three new research positions for Doctoral and Postdoctoral Research Fellows in Max Planck Research Group “Ageing in a Time of Mobility”. The interdisciplinary project will be led by Dr. Megha Amrith.

Research areas:

Ageing And Forced Displacement; the experiences of those who choose to migrate in later life; the active role that older family members play in the migration projects of their extended families and in intergenerational care processes; ageing and internal migration; experiences of ageing in diverse urban communities; questions of return, home and belonging in the diaspora.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must hold degree in Anthropology, Sociology, Geography, History or related field in the Social Sciences and Humanities.
  • Applicant must have a strong background in qualitative research methods, with proven field research experience (ethnography, in-depth interviews and/or oral histories).
  • Applicant must demonstrate relevant language skills for their proposed field sites.
  • Selected research fellows are expected to independently develop their own research projects within the thematic framework of the research group.
  • The working language of the Institute is English.

Duration:

  • Postdoctoral fellows: initially 2 years
  • Doctoral fellows: initially 3 years
