PhD Research fellow: Agronomy or Plant Science 1098 views

The Department of Plant Sciences at University of Wyoming is inviting applications for a PhD Research Assistantship. The position is available from Spring/Summer 2020 (negotiable).

About the position:
  • The graduate student research will focus on the integrated management of problem weeds in agronomic crops in Wyoming.
  • The student will have the opportunity to conduct field and greenhouse based research in multiple locations in Wyoming. Students will also study the basic biology, ecology and seedbank management of weed species in a cropping system.
  • The student will be involved with the University of Wyoming’s Extension programs, farm visits, and the development of the extension materials.
  • The student is expected to publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and participate in scholarly activities, and will also be supported to attend the professional meetings.
  • Upon successful completion, the student will receive a PhD degree in Agronomy or Plant Science.

Qualifications:

  • Applicant to hold M.S. degree in Agronomy, Weed Science, Agroecology, Plant Science or another relevant field
  • Good understanding of agronomic crop production system is required
  • Applicant must demonstrate desire to learn statistical techniques and modeling
  • An excellent work ethic and ability to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary and a multi-cultural team
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required
