PhD Scholarship: DTU Chemical Engineering
PhD scholarship in Methane Production and Carbon Capture through Hydrate Swapping at the DTU Chemical Eng., TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF DENMARK
DTU Chemical Engineering invites applications for a three year PhD position in Methane production and carbon capture through hydrate swapping.
Project description
- The problem of using carbon dioxide to produce the vast resources of natural gas locked up as solid gas hydrates in permafrost and oceanic margin zones.
- The natural gas hydrates are converted to CO2hydrates, thereby storing CO2 (the major greenhouse gas) while simultaneously releasing natural gas.
Responsibilities and tasks
This project will involve thermodynamic and kinetic modeling of gas hydrate systems and processes as well as molecular simulation, for example to probe the formation of CO2 hydrate and dissociation of CH4 hydrate in a production/storage scenario.
Required Qualifications
- Candidates should have a master’s degree in chemical engineering
2. Have a strong background in computer modelling and simulation.
Assessment: The assessment will be Assoc. Prof. Nicolas von Solms and Assoc. Prof. Alexander Shapiro.
Salary: Appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The period of employment is three years.
Further information
Further information may be obtained from Nicolas von Solms, nvs@kt.dtu.dk.
