PhD scholarship in Homogeneous Catalysis at DTU 853 views

The Department of Chemistry at Technical University of Denmark (DTU) has a 3-year PhD fellowship available in homogeneous catalysis from September 1, 2020 or soon thereafter. The fellowship is funded by an alliance research project grant from the DTU.

About the project:
  • The project involves collaboration between KTH Royal Institute of Technology and the Technical University of Denmark. The aim is to elucidate the mechanisms for new (de)hydrogenation reactions catalysed by first-row transition metal complexes with tetradentate ligands.
  • The work will include experimental investigations at DTU and theoretical studies at KTH. The ultimate goal is to develop sufficiently accurate theoretical models, which will make it possible to design improved catalyst complexes in silico and in this way determine the optimum ligand structures.
  • The PhD student will spend 2 years at DTU and 1 year at KTH. At DTU, the student will perform kinetic experiments with labelled substrates to elucidate the rate-determining steps and spectroscopic measurements to identify catalyst intermediates.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master’s degree.

Applications:

Submit online application as one PDF file containing the following materials:

  • A letter motivating the application (cover letter)
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Grade transcripts and BSc/MSc diploma
