Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin is inviting applications for a PhD position in PhD-student: Physics, Chemistry, Biophysics, Biochemistry or related fields.

Tasks and duties:

• Development of workflows for correlative imaging of biological samples using X-ray and fluorescence microscopy
• Cyro-sample preparation of biological samples
• Recording and evaluating correlative imaging data
• Investigation of the properties of specific fluorescent dyes and their effect on cell structures under cryogenic conditions

Requirements:

• Applicant must have in-depth expertise in the field of optics and microscopic methods
• Applicant must demonstrate good expertise in the field of cell and structural biology
• Applicant must have the knowledge in handling and preparation of biological samples and in handling cryogenic liquids

Duration: Fixed term contract for 36 months
