Overview

La is seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time research associate (postdoctoral) position to work on data-driven methods and scientific computing at the University of Washington in Seattle. This position will be jointly supported by the Brunton and Kutz) research groups at UW, in the mechanical engineering and applied mathematics departments respectively.

Duration: Research Associates have an annual service period of 12 months.

Research Area: Research topics of interest include developing data-driven methods, i.e. machine learning and applied optimization, for modeling and controlling dynamical systems, with a wide range of applications in fluid dynamics, neuroscience, manufacturing, nonlinear optics, materials science, etc.

Required Qualifications

  1. Ideal candidates will have strong past experience in data-driven science and engineering and an interest in working in a dynamic and collaborative research group.
  2. Research independence, excellent written and oral communication skills,
  3. Ability to set and accomplish research goals are essential.
  4. Research Associates will gain leadership and mentoring experience working with our graduate students
  5. Facilitate interactions with our international network of interdisciplinary collaborators.
