Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) invites applications for Postdoctoral position in atmospheric science in polar environments commencing 1 May 2020 for duration of two years.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Perform research in the field of polar atmospheric science
- Analysis and modeling of chemical and microphysical aerosol and ancillary measurements from the Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate expedition (MOSAiC, Microbiology-Ocean-Cloud-Coupling in the High Arctic (MOCCHA) campaign
- Build a strong network in the field of research
- Lead or co-lead initiatives within the MOSAiC and other polar consortia
- Write proposals as a lead or as a partner in a consortium
- Participate in education and student coaching
- Promote polar and alpine research and its impact to the public
Requirements:
- Applicant must hold PhD in Atmospheric Science or a related field
- Experience or strong interest in analysis of interdisciplinary data sets and atmospheric modeling
- Applicant must possess good interpersonal skills, team player and good knowledge of English (written and spoken)
- Applicants with good programming skills will have an advantage.
- Experience with large data sets and satellite data is beneficial but not a prerequisit
