Postdoc position: Atmospheric Science in Polar Environments 1004 views

Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) invites applications for Postdoctoral position in atmospheric science in polar environments commencing 1 May 2020 for duration of two years.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Perform research in the field of polar atmospheric science
  • Analysis and modeling of chemical and microphysical aerosol and ancillary measurements from the Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate expedition (MOSAiC, Microbiology-Ocean-Cloud-Coupling in the High Arctic (MOCCHA) campaign
  • Build a strong network in the field of research
  • Lead or co-lead initiatives within the MOSAiC and other polar consortia
  • Write proposals as a lead or as a partner in a consortium
  • Participate in education and student coaching
  • Promote polar and alpine research and its impact to the public

Requirements:

  • Applicant must hold PhD in Atmospheric Science or a related field
  • Experience or strong interest in analysis of interdisciplinary data sets and atmospheric modeling
  • Applicant must possess good interpersonal skills, team player and good knowledge of English (written and spoken)
  • Applicants with good programming skills will have an advantage.
  • Experience with large data sets and satellite data is beneficial but not a prerequisit
