Postdoc Position in Cell Biology at the University of Basel (100%, start in spring 2018)

Overview: The research group “Cell Adhesion” at the Department of Biomedicine offers a Postdoc research  position in the field of epidermal differentiation.

Aim:
  1. The group is interested in the regulation of keratinocyte differentiation and proliferation by cell adhesion receptors to establish a functional and adaptable skin barrier.
  2. To study the impact of cell adhesion on epithelial tumor invasion and metastasis.
  3. The aim of the project is to investigate the contribution of cadherin-based adhesion receptors for epidermal differentiation and homeostasis.
  4. Establishment of 3D cell culture and mouse model approaches to study the impact of genetically modified adhesion receptors. You will use innovative imaging techniques such as AFM force spectroscopy, superresolution microscopy or live cell imaging.
Requirements
  1. Ph.D. in Cell Biology or related fields
  2. Strong background in common biochemical and molecular biology techniques
  3. Experience with 3D cell culture models and state-of-the art imaging techniques
  4. Curious and highly motivated personality with a strong sense for key research skills: Systematic, exact and focused working as well as careful observation and interpretation of results.
  5. Independent working attitude and team player capabilities in an international research group setting
