ABOUT THE POSITION:
- You will focus on research on enzyme-catalysed amide bond synthesis, specifically research into novel classes of amide bond forming enzymes for the synthesis of pharmaceutical amides.
- You will employ synthetic organic chemistry, gene cloning, expression, mutation and analytical techniques to characterise novel enzyme activity and look to develop scaleable processes for enzyme-catalysed amide bond formation.
ELEGIBILITY CRITRIA:
- A first degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related discipline and a PhD with experience in synthetic organic chemistry and molecular biology (or have submitted a PhD thesis prior to taking up appointment)
- A proven research track-record and knowledge of both synthetic and analytical organic chemistry relevant to catalysis and biocatalysis and knowledge of a range of research techniques and methodologies in molecular biology and Enzymology
- A good knowledge of and enthusiasm for contemporary research in applied biocatalysts Skills in synthetic organic chemistry, gene cloning and protein production and analytical techniques associated with organic chemistry.
