The Department of Living Matter Physics (LMP) at Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization (MPI-DS) is seeking to fill a number of Postdoctoral and Doctoral Researcher positions (f/m/d).
About the research:
The PhD and the postdoc researchers will engage in theoretical and computational research in Nonequilibrium Statistical Physics of Active Matter and Living Systems. Possible topics include chemical and mechanical nonequilibrium activity and flow of information across the scales.
Requirements:
For postdoctoral position:
- A PhD/DPhil degree (or comparable) with a background in Theoretical Physics, Applied Mathematics or related disciplines from a recognized university.
- Prior experience with nonequilibrium statistical physics and living matter physics.
- Ability and desire to work in a multi-disciplinary international team.
- Good command of English, which is the working language of the department. German is an asset but not required.
For PhD position:
- A Master’s degree (or comparable) in theoretical physics, applied mathematics or related disciplines from a recognized university.
- Interest in nonequilibrium statistical physics and living matter physics.
- Ability and desire to work in a multi-disciplinary international team.
- Good command of English, which is the working language of the department. German is an asset but not required.
Duration:
- PhD position is limited to three years
- Postdoctoral position is for two years with the possibility of extension
- Starting date is flexible.
