Canada Research Chair in Creativity and STEM at the Department of Chemistry (Faculty of Science), the University of Calgary is seeking applications for a Postdoc Scholar in Race, Diversity, and Equity in Postsecondary STEM.
Overview:
The Postdoctoral will be required to play a leadership role in the Race, Diversity, and Equity in Postsecondary STEM research agenda by collaborating on research, mentorship, and knowledge mobilization aimed at advancing the visibility and participation of underrepresented students in postsecondary STEM education.
Depending on funding application outcomes and the applicant’s interests, potential research projects may include:
- Involvement with and (leadership opportunities) in:
- collaborative and participatory research
- multiple phases or aspects of the larger research project including:
- Engaging in collaborative and participatory research, including research design, data collection, and analysis
- Coordinating knowledge mobilization efforts with and to different stakeholder audiences
- Drafting academic papers, manuscripts, and proposals for scholarly journals and conferences
- Reviewing and synthesizing literature in relation to the project
- Involvement with securing research funding and fostering partnerships
- Supervising graduate and undergraduate research assistants
In addition to the above, other tasks that arise may be included to advance the research and transforming the practice agenda
Required Qualifications:
- Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in science (STEM disciplines, learning sciences, psychology, sociology, critical race studies, or any related field)
- Demonstrated interest in issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in postsecondary education
- Strong communication capabilities with a proactive attitude
- Candidates will have outstanding research track records as evidenced by journal publications, conference papers, and other non-traditional knowledge mobilization efforts
