Postdoctoral Fellow: Biochemistry, Molecular, Cellular Biology 1280 views

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) has a 2-year postdoc position is available immediately in the group of Dr. Marco Marcia. Candidate is expected to have a strong interest in deciphering the molecular mechanism of long non-coding RNAs involved in cancer and development.

About the position:
  • Candidate will identify cellular interaction partners of target lncRNAs studied by the lab, with particular priority to human MEG3, by means of hybridization capture and proteomic, transcriptomic, and genomic analysis.
  • Candidate will then validate these interactions by in vivo and in vitro biochemical and imaging techniques, and formulate and test mechanistic hypotheses to describe the specific and selective cellular functions of the target lncRNA.
  • Candidate will also participate in routinary lab activities, i.e. weekly group meetings, progress reports, sharing of responsibilities related to instruments and tasks that ensure the efficient progression of the lab research activities.

Requirements:

  • Applicants should hold a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular, Cellular Biology or related fields, and have a solid background in biochemical analysis of proteins and/or RNA complexes.
  • Experience in RNA hybridization capture and affinity purification of endogenous RNA-protein complexes (CHART, ChIRP, I-DRIP, RAP) would be an advantage.
  • The laboratory pursues an interdisciplinary structural and cellular approach in the characterization of specific lncRNAs, and has direct access to on-site and intra-institutional state-of-the-art Proteomics, Genomics, Imaging, Genetic engineering, Flow Cytometry, and Structural Biology facilities.
  • Motivation to work in a multidisciplinary and international environment and commitment to secure independent postdoctoral funding are essential.
