European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is seeking a highly motivated molecular biologist with protein biochemistry expertise to develop the use of single domain antibodies as a platform technology for structural and functional studies. The position is for a Postdoctoral fellow.
About the position:
- The selected candidate will be responsible to establish an in vitro nanobody selection approach to identify binders against selected membrane proteins, which then will be used as tools for structural (X-ray or Cryo-EM) and functional studies (e.g. Imaging, transport assays).
- The work aims at biological discoveries comprising both methodological and applied aspects.
Duration: 2 years
Qualifications and Experience:
- Applicant must hold PhD degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics or Structural Biology (or a related field)
- Strong experience in molecular biology and protein biochemistry with a demonstrated record of accomplishments
- Ability to plan and pursue a research project independently and in a team
- Willingness to learn new skills as projects require
- Good communication, interpersonal and English language skills
- Experience in phage display or ribosome display technologies
- Experience in structural biology (X-ray, Cryo-EM) of integral membrane proteins or larger protein complexes
- Experimental expertise in the field of membrane proteins
- Familiarity with eukaryotic expression systems
