Postdoctoral Fellow: Remote Sensing and Forest Genetics 1084 views

The University of British Columbia (UBC) is seeking for a Postdoctoral Fellow under the supervision of Professor Nicholas Coops to lead the research, including: The acquisition of data at a number of forest genetics field trials multiple times per year; developing processing pathways to derive indices relevant to forest phenotyping analysis; and preparing scientific manuscripts for publication. The successful candidate, will be working with the forest genetics field trials (progeny trials) that are the foundation of reforestation decisions, your research results will have direct and long-lasting benefits that will improve the climate resilience of BC’s forests.

Requirements:
  • Applicant must hold a PhD in Forestry, Remote Sensing, Computer Programming, Forest Ecology, or related field.
  • Applicant must have a strong background in remote sensing data processing, of both 3D point clouds and spectral data.
  • Experience in flying and acquiring data from drone-based platforms would be key asset
  • A strong statistical background.
  • Applicant must have strong programming skills (preferably in R). Experience in R package development is also a strong asset.
  • Applicant must have excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong publication record.
  • Experience working with collaborative and multi-disciplinary teams an asset.
