Postdoctoral fellow Organic Analytical Chemistry: NMBU 1727 views

Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) invites applications for Postdoctoral fellow within Organic Analytical Chemistry (Ref.no. 17/04842) at Faculty of Chemistry, Biotechnology and food science (KBM). The position is related to the identification and characterisation of novel organic pollutants in anthropogenic wastes and contaminated environments.

Duration: 2 years; funded by grants from the Research Council of Norway.

About the Research Project:

  • The selected candidate will be associated with two projects funded by the Research Council of Norway, which both deal with characterization, identification and quantification of novel or yet unidentified organic pollutants in bio-waste as well as affected environmental samples.
  • In addition to non-target analysis, a major focus will be laid upon method development for quantification of novel industrial chemicals (PFAS, PFR, novel-BFR), pharmaceuticals and current used pesticides (CUP).
  • The candidate will join an international expert network with access to highly advanced trace analytical technologies.

Academic Qualifications

  • Applicant must hold PhD degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant scientific field.

Required experience:

  • in quantitative trace analysis of organic pollutants in the environment
  • knowledge on modern multi-component trace analytical technologies such as high resolution chromatography (GC &HPLC) in combination with mass selective detection
  • knowledge on method development and validation of multi-compound trace analytical methods according to standard quality control (QC) requirements in environmental chemistry

Desired Academic qualifications

  • Knowledge on handling and interpretation of relevant soft-ware for qualitative and quantitative data handling
  • Documented competence in scripting and Visual Basic as well as statistics and chemometry.
  • Team-oriented working attitude
  • Practical experience with GC/LC instrument maintenance and hardware adjustments.
