Postdoctoral or Research Scientist: Materials Dynamics Laboratory

Seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher or Research Scientist at the Materials Dynamics Laboratory, Photon Science Research Division, RIKEN SPring-8 Center

The Laboratory has recently commissioned world-leading spectrometers for measuring atomic and electronic dynamics (~1 and ~30 meV resolution, respectively). Potential research directions include investigation of magneto-elastic coupling, correlated materials, ferroelectrics, and, possibly, liquid dynamics. Extensive off-line facilities are available, in addition to the facilities of a premier operating synchrotron (SPring-8) and free-electron laser (SACLA).

Required Qualification

  1. Applicants must have a doctor degree (or must be expected to receive a doctor degree until the employment).
  2. Applicants for Postdoc Researcher should have experience of postdoc research of less than five years.
  3. Outstanding candidates from any experimental field will be considered, but applicants with previous experience in related spectroscopic methods (IXS, INS, Raman, IR) are especially encouraged to apply.
  4. Interest and experience in development of new x-ray techniques and instrumentation will be regarded positively.

Fellowship Details

A one-year fixed-term employment contract, renewable based on evaluation, to a maximum of the end of the fiscal year (March 31) in which the employee completes 7 years of employment (5 years for Postdoctoral Researcher).
