The School of Life Sciences (Biological Chemistry and Drug Discovery) at University of Dundee is offering a postdoctoral position available immediately within the group of Prof Mark C. Field.
About the position:
- The researcher will be expected to perform studies on the composition and function of vacuolar protein targeting in the protozoan Trypanosoma brucei as part of a program of work into transport and drug sensitivity and funded by the Wellcome Trust.
- The ideal candidate will have interests in eukaryotic cell biology and evolution, with an emphasis on protein trafficking.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must hold PhD in a relevant area (trafficking, parasitology)
- Knowledge of intracellular trafficking pathways; tissue culture at category two/three level; molecular biology and recombinant DNA manipulation; Phylogenetics, comparative genomics; Light microscopy and immunufluorescence
- Applicant must possess good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team as well as independently
- Understanding of large proteomics datasets and statistics
- Protein chemistry
- Skills with image processing software (Omera, Photoshop)
