Postdoctoral position in Supramolecular Chemistry 1546 views

The Technical University of Denmark is inviting application for a 2-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship in supramolecular and bioorganic chemistry under the supervision of Associate Professor Sophie Beeren. The project is funded by the Carlsberg Foundation Young Research Fellowship grant entitled ‘Enzyme-mediated Dynamic Combinatorial Chemistry’. The successful candidate will join a young and ambitious, international research team, which is a part of the Organic and Inorganic Chemistry section at DTU Chemistry.

About the position:
  • The position is available from September 1 2020, or as soon as possible thereafter.
  • The project will explore the use of enzyme-catalysed reactions in templated dynamic covalent synthesis – combining supramolecular chemistry with enzymology This methodology will be developed towards the synthesis of carbohydrate-based receptors and stimuli-responsive materials.
  • The work will include the design, synthesis and characterisation of molecular building blocks and supramolecular assemblies, enzymatic synthesis, analysis of dynamic oligosaccharide mixtures, and physical studies using spectroscopy (NMR, UV-Vis, fluorescence and CD spectroscopy) to investigate conformation, binding phenomena and self-assembly.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate should have a PhD in Supramolecular or Organic Chemistry.
  • Previous post-doctoral experience is an advantage.
  • Extensive experience working with spectroscopy (NMR and optical), chromatography analysis (HPLC, LC-MS), and/or organic synthesis is essential.
  • Knowledge within the field of biochemistry is an advantage but not essential.
  • Candidate should be highly motivated, able to work both independently and collaboratively, and should be confident in both written and spoken English.

Applications:

  • Submit online application (as one PDF file) containing the following materials: Application (cover letter)
