Physical and Theoretical Chemistry: Postdoctoral Research Associate / Fellow in Physical Chemistry (Physical & Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory, at the University of Oxford and the Department of Chemistry, Oxford

Fellowship: Grade 7: £31,076 – £38,183 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoc Research Associate to work under the supervision of Professor Susan Perkin.

Research project: funded by the European Research Council (ERC)

Duration: for a period of 3 years. The post is available from 1 October 2017 and must be taken up by 31 March 2018.

Work Area:

1.   The project involves experimental measurements of surface forces across liquid nano-films.

2.   Developing methodology and analysis in the direction of out-of-equilibrium systems and/or the effect of non-uniform fields on confined liquids.

3.   Strong experimental element as well as data analysis, modelling, and interpretation.

Requirements:

1.   PhD in experimental physics, physical chemistry or a relevant subject area, or have submitted your thesis prior to taking up your appointment.

Duties will include managing own academic research and administrative activities and carrying out experimental research including measurement of surface forces using the surface force balance, and subsequent data analysis using appropriate methods and software.
