A postdoctoral position is available as part of the Centre for Leverhulme Research Centre for Functional Materials

  1. Design (https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/leverhulme-research-centre). The post will focus on the development of software to control autonomous robots for the discovery of new materials.
  2. The main criteria are a proven track record in software development in a relevant field and a passion for autonomous discovery using robots

Eligibility Criteria

  • A developer of software who is interested in moving into the robotics field?
  • A computer scientist who is looking to translate new methods into robotics problems?
  • These are just three examples of possible backgrounds that might fit with this role; we are open-minded and will provide the necessary training in any areas that are not covered by the successful candidate’s previous experience.
  • The project will be supervised by Professor Andrew Cooper FRS and it will be based in the Materials Innovation Factory and the Autonomous Chemistry Laboratory
  • A robotics researcher with a strong background in software?
  • The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with unique robotic platforms and to gain experience that could help to launch a career either in academia or in industry
  • The post is available for 3 years
