Postdoctoral Positions: Experimental and Computational Biology 693 views

The Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics is inviting applications for two postdocs in computational and/or experimental single cell biology for an initial period of two years.

About the positions:
  • The positions are available in the group of Dominic GrĂ¼n
  • The group is studying cell fate decision in multilineage systems with the aim to reveal regulatory mechanisms of cell fate choice. Major tools are single-cell RNA-seq and multiplexed single-molecule FISH to investigate the dependence on spatial context.
  • Experimental systems are human and mouse immune cell populations across tissues and cell fate dynamics in the normal and diseased liver.
  • The positions offer the opportunity to learn single-cell experimental and data analysis techniques and to develop novel experimental and/or computational methods.

Qualifications:

Computational position:

  • PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Life Science, Natural Science, or comparable
  • Strong background in at least one of the following disciplines: machine learning, statistics, modeling, computational data analysis
  • Basic knowledge of next-generation sequencing data analysis
  • Profound interest in molecular biology and stem cell differentiation
  • At least one first author paper in an international peer-reviewed journal
  • fluency in English

Experimental position:

  • PhD in Life Science, Natural Science, or comparable
  • Strong background in basic molecular biology techniques
  • Background in (single-cell) omics and/or advanced imaging techniques
  • Specific knowledge of hematopoiesis or liver (disease) biology is a strong plus
  • Profound interest in stem cell differentiation
  • At least one first author paper in an international peer-reviewed journal
  • fluency in English
