The Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics is inviting applications for two postdocs in computational and/or experimental single cell biology for an initial period of two years.
About the positions:
- The positions are available in the group of Dominic GrĂ¼n
- The group is studying cell fate decision in multilineage systems with the aim to reveal regulatory mechanisms of cell fate choice. Major tools are single-cell RNA-seq and multiplexed single-molecule FISH to investigate the dependence on spatial context.
- Experimental systems are human and mouse immune cell populations across tissues and cell fate dynamics in the normal and diseased liver.
- The positions offer the opportunity to learn single-cell experimental and data analysis techniques and to develop novel experimental and/or computational methods.
Qualifications:
Computational position:
- PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Life Science, Natural Science, or comparable
- Strong background in at least one of the following disciplines: machine learning, statistics, modeling, computational data analysis
- Basic knowledge of next-generation sequencing data analysis
- Profound interest in molecular biology and stem cell differentiation
- At least one first author paper in an international peer-reviewed journal
- fluency in English
Experimental position:
- PhD in Life Science, Natural Science, or comparable
- Strong background in basic molecular biology techniques
- Background in (single-cell) omics and/or advanced imaging techniques
- Specific knowledge of hematopoiesis or liver (disease) biology is a strong plus
- Profound interest in stem cell differentiation
- At least one first author paper in an international peer-reviewed journal
- fluency in English
