A Postdoctoral research scientist position is vacant at the Laboratory of Thermodynamics in Emerging Technologies (LTNT), Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering (D-MAVT) at ETH Zürich and the applications are invited for the same. The position is for experimental investigations and surface nanoengineering for optimal phase change and energy applications.
About the project:
- The selected candidate will be involved in interdisciplinary projects, which will include development of novel, science based, surface and device fabrication as well as experimental investigations for applications exemplified by interfacial phenomena such as enhanced phase-change heat transfer, superhydrophobicity, water harvesting, and anti-icing.
Requirements:
- Applicant must have hold PhD degree from an internationally recognized institution, in one of the following areas: mechanical/chemical engineering, physics or material science.
- Applicant must have extensive knowledge of experimental techniques for thermal and fluid dynamic investigations, and exposure to micro/nanoscale fabrication methods for interfaces and standard surface characterization methods (SEM, AFM, etc.)
- Applicants with additional experience in other clean room processes and numerical simulations are a plus.
- Applicant must possess an excellent knowledge of the English language and excellent communication skills.
Starting date: October 1, 2018
Duration: 2 years; extension is possible upon mutual agreement.
