Postdoctoral Researcher: Bacteriophage Biology 1380 views

APC Microbiome at University College Cork is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral researcher. The position is available within APC’s Gut Phageomics Laboratory investigating the role of the gut bacteriophages in health and disease. The Post-Doctoral Researcher will work within this lab as part of the APC’s ‘Gut Phageomics Spoke’ which is collaborating with a major multi-national pharmaceutical company to explore the role of bacteriophages in shaping the human gut microbiome.

Requirements:
  • A PhD in Bacteriophage Biology.
  • Experience in investigating candidate bacteriophage for phage therapy potential.
  • Have hands on experience with in vivo and/or ex vivo models.
  • Experience with investigating the microbiome (NGS and/or bioinformatics).
  • Proven ability to conduct independent research to a very high level.

Duration: 22 months

Remuneration: €37,221-€44,266 p.a. (IUA Salary Scale)

About the Project:

  • The project is Gut Phageomics (Unique ID 5C)
  • The primary focus of the Postdoctoral Researcher will be research however a particular emphasis during this stage should include;
  • To conduct a specified programme of research under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator/Project Leader.
  • To acquire generic and transferable skills (including project management, business skills and postgraduate mentoring/supervision).
  • To engage in the wider research and scholarly activities of the research group, School or College.
  • To contribute to costing research grant proposals and assist in the financial management of a research project.
