The School of Psychology at University of Surrey is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral position in Psychology commencing from 1st October 2019 for a period of 24 months. The position is under the guidance of Principal Investigator Prof. Emily Farran.
About the project:
- The successful candidate will work on a project detailing the relationship between spatial ability and mathematical cognition in primary school children. The project aims to identify:
- the mechanisms underlying the relationship between LEGO® construction abilities and mathematics;
- whether this differs for physical vs. digital Lego;
- whether both physical Lego and digital Lego construction activities can be used to improve spatial abilities and measure the impact that this has on mathematics ability.
Requirements:
- Applicant must hold PhD or equivalent qualification in Psychology or a related subject (or will be close to finishing your PhD)
- Applicant must have experience in conducting cognitive behavioural studies and standard data coding
- Applicant must have some experience of statistical analysis using statistical packages such as R or SPSS.
